Babble Voice Privacy System developed by Applied Minds

January 10, 2008

Babble Voice Privacy System is a small gadget that has the ability to take sound within a defined perimeter and rebroadcast it as sheer nonsense. Basically it allows its users to have a private conversation even in open spaces. This technology to scramble voice has been developed by Applied Minds, which is a research and consulting firm set up by Danny Hillis and Bran Ferren. Babble is best suited for people who work in open cubicles. The device camouflages the user’s voice and provides him with complete privacy even in open offices. So the person in the next cubicle will not be able to hear the conversation in his colleagues’ cubicle. This not only ensures confidentiality but also total concentration as there will be no voice to distract. This way, the productivity of all employees will be increased.

Babble can work with any standard power outlet. It is compatible with almost all telephone systems. You can turn it on or off as and when you need it. The device comprises of a sound processor along with quite a few speakers. These speakers multiply and jumble any voices that come within its scope. Babble is expected to replace walls and acoustic tiling.
