Low cost suppliers more competent to deal with economic crisis, says Red Hat chief

Red Hat’s chief executive, Jim Whitehurst, says that his company is capable enough to deal with economic crisis being a low-cost supplier.
Speaking to journalists The about future of Red Hat and views on the Linux market, Whitehurst remarked that “at times like this, cheaper generally wins”.
He informed that allocation of resources was the biggest issue confronting the company. He said that company needed lot more planning, indicating that Red Hat had many opportunities but less of dollars to make use of those opportunities.
Whitehurst said that company’s broad appeal is one of the reasons for his optimism. He commented that those companies which deploy IT for competitive advantage perform well, but there are companies which spent millions on IT but not for competitive advantage. He claimed Red Hat was attracting them too.
Whitehurst said that growing sector of cloud could provide a major opportunity of business expansion for Red Hat. He added that company had been working with large movie studios ways to share resources. He disclosed that Red Hat had done its first application certified for Linux, cloud and hypervisor.
He appreciated KVM as an extremely important technology since decades of important work could be leveraged in the cloud. He claimed that steps being taken by the companies to deal with cloud would only help Red Hat.
